Northern Norway is known for world class deep sea halibut fishing, but it´s up to the angler to find the fishing spot and then land the fish. We started our fishing trip from Sørkjosen harbor towards Arnøya, we had halibut fishing in our mind and we have a good spot there. After one hour we were there and we started fishing.
There was no wind, the sun was shining and this alone made the trip worth everything. These moments give meaning to life.
After fishing some time and catching some cod, catfish and other small stuff the hook got stuck on the bottom of the sea. No matter how we pull it would not move at all. We started to getting bored and talked about cutting the line, and then suddenly the line started to move and spin out in extreme speed. We were all in total shock, we had been on deep sea halibut fishing before but this had to be the mother of all mothers. After 1 hours it came 20 meters up and then it go 30 meters away, making it almost impossible to work with. After 3 hours it was under the boat, a large beast that would possibly make new records, but then it dive and somehow rip the line of.
It was like the time stood still, no one said a word, it was gone.
